If I Were To Just Watch
February 2, 2009, 10:19 PM

If I were to be living in the countryside, a place where the pace of life isn’t that fast, a place where maybe competition is not that strong. Living in Singapore, it’s sometimes really so tiring. Competition is everywhere… you just have to be better than the others. And being born and raised in Singapore, I have already developed a certain something that drives me to want to be the top. And sometimes its just that tiring. Mrs Raymond said that Australians aren’t that hardworking as us… and they have other more important things to attend to. And they don’t have tuition (not that I have any) at all.

You know, after working so hard in school, I sometimes wonder if all this is really worth it. I realised that if I want to be the top, I have to put in so so much effort. I don’t have the discipline, the brains. And I realised how I don’t get Maths so easily. And how my Chinese really sucks.

But this is Singapore, I guess? You’d have to work hard to get somewhere. When I complete my education, I want to be someone who can make an impact on this world. Because I don’t want to be forgotten when I’m gone. But after decades spent in doing these things, I’d just retire in a small countryside (considering they still exist in decades later), and not worry about anything (considering I have enough money).

I think I’m getting stressed… o.o

In fact I am.

Homework’s piling… When I complete one, another comes. When I complete another, two more come.

Happy Lunar New Year!

And… the holidays are drawing to an end. Good thing I done my homework on Sunday, or else I’d be still stuck with homework now.

I think I shall end this post right now, ‘cos I guess I’d have to go visit my grandmother’s house soon!

You Know, I Know, We Know

It’s Chinese New Year, very very soon. It’s not much of a great thing anyway. Except probably for the Lunar Eclipse tomorrow at 4:30pm tomorrow, if I’ve not caught the news wrongly. It’s the time of the year again… where you (at least I) meet people that I only meet once a year. And I guess it’ll probably be kind of fun. Chocolate coins, chocolate peanuts, love letters, pineapple tarts… I already have a sore-throat (although it was developed more than a week ago.) I think I can’t resist not eating them!

Reunion dinner was niceeee. At least I find the food nice, ‘cos I probably find most food nice. Steamboat is always fun. And… I scalded myself!? But I think it will look cooler if it was shaped/coloured like a battle scar. Anyways, steamboat soup (at Reunion dinners) always taste like the weirdest concoction ever, ‘cos you just throw whatever you can in, and it turns out all reddish-brown, bubbling with foam, and having the taste of… prawn, beef, pork, fish, mushroom, and stuff… all in one bowl.

Some wishes will remain wishes. And some promises will remain promises. Certain promises are like… you can break them. There isn’t any legal obligation for you to fulfil that promise, and you can choose to ignore the moral obligation? I think I’m just crapping.

And I’m eccentric, very eccentric. I (day)dream of one day my non-existent (perhaps soon to be existent) biological elder sibling would come knocking on the doorstep and say, “Hey, I’m your elder brother/ sister!” It’s really, like, I sometimes think of that. I know it’s not possible, but still… I have a fertile imagination. And also when I walk outside, those tiled floors, I always avoid stepping on the “cracks” or something. And I must step on the “right colour combination”. I have weird habits. Thus I am weird.

And I’m Pet Society-ing a lot. I just realised how hard it is to save money there. And it’s like when I earn enough, I’d get a Mystery Box (which costs 500), and soon realise I have no money left. It’s just like real life gambling, and you go addicted and bankrupt in no time. And I have no idea what I should spend on. (Random, random paragraph.)

Shall post more next time!

Should Have Said So Another Way

I find that after so many months I still hope for the impossible…

As guests stream in the front door in red traditional costumes, hands holding a couple of mandarin oranges, comfortably
“making themselves at home”, I picture myself… doing homework!

Happy Chinese New Year Eve, peeps.
